St John of God, through Horizon House, is about to launch its newest project: a place for young women aged 16–22 years of age who are pregnant or have young children and are engaged in some form of education or training. The house needs to be ready to be occupied by October.

The program is a three-year process. Students with babies, or who are pregnant, will be supported to bond and learn parenting skills. In the second year they are taught independent living skills, and in the third year are supported to move into independent living with ongoing outreach support.

BUT, with five bedrooms, a living area, bathroom, kitchen and laundry to furnish, this is a call out to the wider community to donate good-quality, but unwanted furniture, general furnishings, baby items and white goods. St John of God is funding the rent for the property, maintenance, renovations and staffing.

If you have anything to donate, or know of someone who can donate an item, it will be greatly appreciated.
