BSSC Year 12 student, Jack Mitchell, recently spent a week at Industrial Conveying Australia (ICA), assisting the team in all aspects of their operations.

ICA design and manufacture automated systems for the Food & Beverage, Mining, Recycling and other Materials Handling industries, worldwide.

Jack was involved with the complete in-house process of planning, manufacturing and installation of a range of projects.

He was able to apply his skills whilst being well-supported by a range of tradespeople in the workplace. Some of his tasks included reading engineering drawings, collecting materials for jobs, cleaning workspaces, basic welding, MIG, TIG & ARC, grinding, fabrication, manual production and assembly—including electrical systems.

“It’s been a really good week: I’ve really enjoyed being here and learning more about what goes on in this industry,” Jack says.

“I’m keen to become an Electrical Engineer and would like to get an apprenticeship so I can get started.”
