Isla Devers, one of BSSC’s creative Year 11 students, had the opportunity to engage with a group of similarly talented students from all over Bendigo, when she completed a week of work experience at Arena Theatre Company.
Isla was able to practice and enhance her strong artistic skills, gain confidence in trying new styles of acting, take direction and have input into character development.
Working with Arena’s Artistic Director, Christian Leavesley, students workshopped a new, original script by award winning playwright Fleur Kilpatrick.
The group took part in conversations contributing to characters and scenes, which helps to shape the development of the script.
“To be a part of the creative process has been amazing,” Isla says. “I’ve really enjoyed my week of placement.”
