As the school year comes to a close we congratulate all our athletes for their efforts representing BSSC during 2015. Our BMX riders completed last weekend in state titles, while our basketballers are about to head off to the nationals.

BMX

Congratulations to Matthew White, Jay Beazley and Jordan Hall who all competed in the 2015 BMX Victoria State Titles in Shepparton last weekend.

Matthew finished 5th in the final of the ‘AA’ men’s class, Jordan was 4th in the final of the ‘A’ men’s class, and Jay finished in equal 11th in the ‘A’ men’s class. A great achievement by all three riders.

Basketball

Best of luck to our boys and girls basketball teams, competing in the Australian Schools Championships in Canberra from Monday 30 November to Friday 4 December.

The girls team is Sharna Appleby, Brooke Mangan, Rachelle Mangan, Tayla Nadort, Elisa Pica, Carly Scholes, Teesha Smedley, Taylor Stibbe, and Milly Wicks. The team will be coached by Sarah Huxtable.

The boys team is Isaac Dannock, Simon Dundas, Brock Harvey, Mitch Keuken, Tom Mannix, Keo Payne, Lachy Ratcliffe, and Jak Reade. The team will be coached by Jonathan Goodman.

Squash

Did you know that squash has been labelled the ‘healthiest sport in the world’ by studies? The Bendigo Squash Club currently has some great offers available.

On Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm, they run a ‘beginners’ night, offering a fun way to play squash with other beginners. You get the first night for free, along with free gear hire, and you receive support from the resident coach to get you started.

Students can also play on Thursday nights between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm for just $5 per hour, including free hire gear.

School Sport Victoria Triathlon State Team Nominations

Any students who wish to be considered for selection in the SSV 2016 Team Vic Triathlon team that will compete at the 2016 School Sport Australia Triathlon Championship may now register their interest and view the selection guidelines via the Triathlon Victoria website:

The championships will be held at Hervey Bay in Queensland from the 18th to 21st April, 2016.
