If you were a student or staff member of BSSC then you were treated to an incredible show at Ulumbarra Theatre today.

Our annual talent show—a favourite event on the college calendar—blew us all away, with a line-up of 10 exceptional acts.

Aaron, Will and Jacoby—aka Lost in the Past—opened the show with their cover of Deep Purple’s ‘Highway Star’ and really set the tone for the rest of the afternoon.

It was then Ethan’s turn to take the stage; keeping the energy in the room high with his performance of ‘Let Me Burn’ on electric guitar.

You could hear a pin—or a feather—drop, as Hamish captivated the crowd with his soft but powerful rendition of Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Feather’. Beautiful vocals!

The crowd loved ‘All these things I hate (Revolve Around)’, performed by band Sloppy Joe—comprised of Shannah, Ethan and Riley. They certainly did Bullet for my Valentine proud!

Punk rock band, The Chans, performed their original track ‘Stranger Danger’. Well done Gio, Jin, Arlo and Marcus—with the way they performed, it’s hard to believe the group only formed this year.

After a short break to announce some survey winners, it was time to change up the intensity of the event.

The audience—and judges—looked on in awe as Jesse solved three Rubik’s Cubes at the speed of light.

It was then time for Harvey Jenkyn-Taylor—not to be mistaken for Elton—to get the crowd rockin’ with ‘Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting’.

Lachlan showed off his guitar skills with a performance of ‘Beast and the Harlot’ by Avenged Sevenfold.

The Unknown—comprised of Will, Olive, Isabelle and Toby—were soon known to the crowd, as they rocked out to ‘Baby I’ve got you on my mind’ by Powderfinger.

A band that we’ve regularly seen perform at BSSC’s Open Mic sessions, Two Steps Forward, took to the stage with energy and passion as they covered Linkin Park’s ‘What I’ve Done’. We thank Kai, Harley, Toby, Megan and Josh for a great end the show!

The judges had a hard job selecting the winners, but Two Steps Forward took out the title of BSSC’s Got Talent champions for 2024—closely followed by Rubik’s extraordinaire, Jesse, and Lost in the Past in second and third
place respectively.

A huge thank you to our emcees, staff judges, performers and staff who made today’s wonderful event possible. A special thank you to BSSC’s Events Coordinator, Sharon McColl, and our music legend, Ash Bird, for all their hard work behind the scenes. Check out the photos on Facebook.
