BSSC Year 12 student Corey Wilson was this week named Runner-up Cadet of the Year for the Training Ship Bendigo.

The ceremony, held last Sunday, recognised cadets for their efforts throughout the year and named Braeden Beck and James Wild joint cadets of the year.

In presenting the awards, Chief Petty Officer Mark St Clair said participation in remembrance and other ceremonies across the city had been a “major aspect” of 2016 for the cadets.

“For the second year in a row the cadets sold the highest amount of badges for Anzac Day and Remembrance poppies in this community and we have built up quite a reputation,” he said.

Corey represented the Australian Defence Forces as a cadet at the BSSC Anzac ceremony this year.  He is aiming for a career in the Navy following in his Grandfather’s footsteps, and honoring his great-grandfather, who braved the Kokoda track. We wish Corey well with his selection into the ADF.
