This past week was a huge week for our athletes with competitions in golf, badminton, table-tennis, hockey and soccer and there is more to come next week. While we are proud of all our sporting representatives, we especially congratulation our soccer and table-tennis teams who won through to SSV finals later in August. Read on for highlights and results.

Soccer – Loddon Mallee Region Finals
Congratulations to our girls and boys soccer teams on winning the Loddon Mallee Region finals at Epsom. Both teams went through the day undefeated.

The girls won their first game 3–0 against the Campaspe Region. Goal scorers were Cait Green, Jemimah Bish, and Charli Edlin. After receiving a walk-over in their second game, they went into the last game against Mildura Senior College needing a victory to win over-all on the day. They played a very attacking, team-oriented game, establishing a 2–0 lead by half-time and eventually running out 2–1 winners. Goal scorers were Cait Green, and Carnie Edlin from a penalty.

The boys had a 3–0 victory in both their games. The first was against Echuca, with goals from Bah Blu Htoo Kunoo (2) and Pleh Eh Ywa Hlaing. They followed that with win over Mildura, with goals from Adam Dwyer, Beh Ney Soe, and Pleh Eh Ywa Hlaing. The boys dominated possession throughout both games and thoroughly deserved their wins.

Thanks to coaches Maddy White (girls) and Barnaby Seviour (boys).

Both teams now progress to the SSV State Finals in Melbourne on Monday 29 August (girls) and Tuesday 20 August (boys).

Table tennis – Loddon Mallee Region Finals
Congratulation to our boys table tennis team which was successful in securing the Loddon Mallee Region title at Eaglehawk. The boys proved far too strong for the team from Kerang, winning 5 rubbers, 15 games, to 1 rubber, 5 games. Well done to the team of Lleyton Connor, North Ketkaew, Keahnne Harvey, Jordan Baker, and coach Craig Woodward. The boys now progress to the SSV State Finals in Melbourne on Tuesday, 9 August.

Hockey – Loddon Mallee Region Finals
Our girls hockey team competed in the Loddon Mallee Region finals in Bendigo against a very talented team from Mildura Senior College. Their opponents proved far too experienced and won the game comfortably. The BSSC girls tried hard and fought the game out to the end. Best players were Hayley McNaughton (midfield), Sarah McClusky (wing), and Maddy Davis (defence). Thanks to the coach Daniel Gibbons for his contribution on the day.

Badminton – Loddon Mallee Region Finals
Our girls badminton team came up against some very tough competition during the Loddon Mallee Region finals played at Eaglehawk. The team battled hard all day but were unable to register a win.
