Twelve former Bendigo Senior Secondary College students have received a share of $30,000 in bursaries through the Mason Family Trust. The recipients, announced last week, will use the funds to advance their careers in the arts.

The Mason Family Trust is administered by Sandhurst Trustees and provides funds each year to support students studying the traditional arts.  Miss Mason was a talented stained glass artist, who learned her craft overseas, so her endowment can be used to support accommodation, course fees and course requisites in Australia and in institutions overseas.

Bursary recipients and their areas of study for 2016 are:

  • Maddison Pannowitz-Saville, Fine Arts – Digital Art; VCA ( Victorian College of the Arts)
  • Isabella Johnson, Photography – Photography Study College
  • Kirby Sens, Master of teaching – Visual Arts;
  • Isabella Somerville, Fine Arts & Psychology – ANU
  • Suzannah Henty, Art course – Paris Citie Internationale Universitaire de Paris

BSSC Arts Coordinator Marcus Patching said the Mason Family Trust bursaries provided invaluable financial assistance to former students who had a passion for the arts and a desire to complete further studies in their chosen disciplines.

“Current students also benefit from the Mason Trust when recipients visit the college to deliver practical workshops and discuss the pathway to their current course,” he added.

“They may also share folio tips and information about travel opportunities to inspire our current students.”
