A film crew from the Department of Education and Training (DET) were at BSSC today filming a training video for the Safe Schools program. Alana Wearne, a Senior Project Officer with DET, and former BSSC student, interviewed Ally staff members and students from the school’s LGBTI community to create a video package that will be used to train other schools adopting the Ally Network.

BSSC has been a flagship for the program, having helped guide more than a dozen schools through the process. The Ally Network fosters a community where everyone is included and valued, and where harassment and discrimination have no place. The BSSC Ally network was established to increase the inclusivity of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) staff and students and to allow our community to better understand the experiences they have in their everyday lives.
