A group of six cinema-loving BSSC students received an invitation to their ‘happy place’ today, when they became participants in the Star Cinema’s flagship Ambassador Program.

At lunchtime today, the students met with the Star Cinema’s Business Manager, Martin Myles, beginning a collaboration that will see them as regular attendees and reviewers at the cinema.

Tilda Picken, Jacob O’Donnell, Phoebe Dearricott, Nick Reed, Mikaela Couwenberg and Sash Stuchbree (absent today) will all be spending a lot of time on the Star’s famous red couches.

“We want to foster a love of film and cinema in a younger audience,” Mr Myles said. “We hope that what we create with BSSC students over the coming months can one day be rolled out across other Bendigo schools.”

Today students received their special Ambassador Pass that will allow them unlimited access to Star Cinema screenings over the coming six months. The students will review films, and provide feedback about the cinema experience itself, that will be presented to the Star Cinema Board each month, and shared on BSSC’s media platforms.

“We hope the participants will bring their unique personalities, their own particular style and taste in cinema to the program,” Mr Myles said. “After meeting the students today and hearing about their favourite films, there’s definitely a lot of passion and diversity in the group.”
