BSSC German Language students shared their enthusiasm for learning a language today at the annual German Day—a celebration of German language and culture held every year at the Bendigo Art Gallery.
It was a perfect Spring morning for dancing and singing, as students from BSSC, Bendigo South East College, East Loddon P-12, Crusoe College and Spring Gully Primary joined in a rousing version of Das Fliegerlied (Today is Such a Beautiful Day).
BSSC students led a series of German-themed activities based around the Bendigo Art Gallery collection. Other activities throughout the day included Running Dictation, a Vahland Trail, German art activities and German language trails.
German Day is the initiative of the Calder Regional Network of the Association of German Teachers of Victoria (AGTV), led by Felicity Woodward from Spring Gully Primary School and Kristina Dean from Bendigo Senior Secondary College, and supported by BSSC Visual Art teacher Helen Attrill, who is also the Education Officer at Bendigo Art Gallery.
