BSSC Year 11 student, Amelia Leach, had not even heard of the Victorian Youth Congress at the beginning of August.
However, in 2022 she will be one of 22 young Victorians, aged 12 to 21 years, who will meet monthly to discuss any legislation or changes to legislation that impact young people.
“I first got interested in politics when I was just six years old and Julia Gillard was elected PM,” Amelia explains. “My understanding and interest has just grown and grown and I’m now planning to study politics at uni.”
Amelia’s passion to push for greater respect for the opinions of Victoria’s young people is obvious and we wish her well as she takes on this responsibility.
