VET Community Services Students gained valuable insights into branding, mission statements, and preparing a pitch deck which they’ll present to the City of Greater Bendigo in a week’s time.

The workshop was part of CityStudio, an immersive La Trobe University course where students work with the local council and community to make the city more sustainable, inclusive, liveable and joyful.

The BSSC students have been working alongside La Trobe students with City Studio and Bendigo Tech School to create safe and sustainable transport solutions for Bendigo.

Bendigo Tech School’s Graeme Wiggins and Paul Rowland led today’s workshop that included hands-on exercises and brainstorming around creating a vision and communicating a brand.

VET Community Services teacher, Peter Burns, said City Studio fits really nicely with the learning outcomes.

“Rather than just learning theory in the classroom, students are applying it to ‘real world’ situations,” he said. “It will also help them develop public speaking and interview skills for beyond BSSC.”
